Crafting the HOLD building system
HOLD has constructed a real-size mock-up of its building system using mass timber components, specifically Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glue-Laminated Timber (Glulam). This remarkable load-bearing structure showcases the modular nature of mass timber construction. Collaborating with its community of partners, HOLD created the mock-up to meticulously assess element compatibility and enhance construction efficiency.
HOLD's visionary approach entails the manufacturing of all building components within controlled factory environments, followed by their efficient transportation to the construction site. Here, these components are skilfully assembled into fully functional buildings. This method yields numerous advantages, including expedited construction timelines and the promotion of a pristine and environmentally conscious production site.
HOLD previously made other mock-ups for various architectural elements, including their façade components and bespoke ceiling islands. Keep an eye out for forthcoming updates on HOLD's progress as they advance toward the construction of their prototype building.
